“Pi Nook, what do you need?”
“I need you get out kitchen!”
Oops!
🙂 Today was my first day working at Zion Café, one of the ministries that are run through Lighthouse In Action, my teams partner ministry for the first 10 days we are here in Thailand. Pi Emmi is the leader of this operation and she is a hilarious woman. Picture a tiny, spikey haired asian woman with glasses, a good handle on her english and an even better handle on her sass. When she told us her story during orientation, of how her father killed her mother in a rage, how her grandfather tried to sell her and how her great grandfather saved her, how she walked out of a lifestyle of alcohol abuse, and how God transformed her heart and gave her eyes to see her people…
I haven’t been this inspired by someone since Serbia when I met Miloš and his heart for his people.
I feel a fire building up in my chest, a fire that is giving me a great motivation to go home and begin ministering to my people, begin reaching in a way that I have never before. I want to tell my story of how God has brought me freedom. The more I see the passion of others, the more the passion I gain. Seriously, I cannot wait to stand on the platform of God’s grace and lead a life that is God centered, a life that is worth living.
My job this week that I’m working in Zion Café is to serve, obviously (and its freaking awesome! I didn’t realize how much I missed being a Barista!), but also to connect with the staff of Zion. They are the sweetest women! So funny! And they make fun of me so much. “Yo Thai is so bad!” “GG you mess up oder!” My Thai is bad, and I did screw up an order, and making fun of the silly white boy is how we best connect. And we sang, took silly pictures, bussed some tables, and just had a blast laughing at the awkward moments. I really like it here. We’ll be doing an open mic night tomorrow, a dance night the next and then Worship on Saturday. What could be better?
Service. Its just that simple. Taking orders for people, washing dishes, hanging out with the girls working… its all in the name of just doing service, and by doing this, I’m serving my Jesus.
I’ve only been in Thailand a total of five days, and I can tell you that this month is already looking like something magical. God is going to teach us all how BIG He is and how BIG His love for all of His children are.
